Loyalists blamed for petrol bomb attacks
Loyalists are being blamed for a string of petrol bomb attacks in south Belfast on Thursday.
Up to five devices were thrown at a car park close Donegall Pass police station where some officers and other staff are though to park vechiles when on duty.
A short time earlier in the nearby Cromac Street area stones, bottles, paint and other missiles were thrown during a stand off between rival nationalist and loyalist youths. Police and community workers spent most of the evening trying to keep the two sides apart as more than 100 people clashed.
In east Belfast, meanwhile, a car was destroyed in a petrol bomb attack shortly after midnight.
The Vauxhall Vectra car was set alight outside a house in Glen Lea Park in the Garnerville area. A woman and five children in the house at the time of the incident escaped unhurt.

Police investigate County Antrim pipe bomb attacks
Police in Northern Ireland are investigating three overnight pipe bomb attacks on houses in County Antrim. The first incident happened in Newtownabbey when a stone, followed by a bomb, was thrown into the bedroom of a house in Abbeyville Park around 11.30pm on Sunday 29 July.

Co Armagh man to stand trial over Omagh deaths
A 36-year-old man has been committed for trial for the murders of the 29 people killed in the 1998 Omagh bombing. Sean Hoey, of Molly Road, Jonesborough, denies the charges and others connected to other Real IRA attacks including one in 2001.

Man And Woman Shot In West Belfast
A man and woman, aged in their 50s, have been shot in the legs in west Belfast. The attack happened at a house in Norglen Parade shortly after 6.15pm on Thursday, 12 January. The victims, understood to be husband and wife, were taken to hospital to be treated, however their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Heart Attacks Kill Six People In NI Every Week
Heart attacks kill six people in Northern Ireland every week, according to research by the British Heart Foundation (BHF). 314 people aged under 65 died from heart failure last year. In 2013/14, there were 5,400 heart attacks treated in Northern Ireland hospitals. This figure has risen from 4,600 the year before.
