Newry firm announce £6.9m re-investment programme
A leading refurbishment firm has announced a £6.9 million re-investment programme at its base in Co Down.
MJM Group, based in Rathfriland, Newry, decided on the move after recently receiving $8 million worth of orders from US firm American cruise lines. As a result of the new order, which was aided by Invest NI, up to 75 extra jobs are likely to be created.
The new expansion will entail the creation of a new purpose built 100,000 square foot factory and 30,000 square feet of adjoining office space on a 13-acre site within the Carnbane Industrial Estate in Newry.
Commenting on the programme, Hugo Wilson CEO of MJM Group said: “This move represents a significant opportunity to develop our services and products. We have outgrown our current premises and need to move to facilitate our expansion.
"By bringing in new staff, equipment and processes we will be able to capture more business in our fast moving markets to become a world leader within the global refurbishment market place.”
Invest NI has offered the company £290,000 worth of assistance to the firm.
