Adair refused bail in harassment case
Former UDA leader Johnny Adair has been refused bail following an application to Bolton Magistrates' Court on Thursday.
The case relates to an incident in which Adair, 41, and William Woods, 37, are accused of harassment.
The incident is alleged to have taken place outside a launderette in Halliwell Road, Bolton, close to where both men reside.
Adair denied the charges relating to the harassment. Woods denied two charges in connection with the same incident.
Adair has settled in the Bolton area with his wife, family and former associates since they were ousted from the Shankill Road in Belfast following a UDA power struggle in 2003.
During that struggle East Antrim loyalist John ‘Grugg’ Gregg was shot dead.
The UDA leadership blamed elements within Adair's "C Company" faction for the killing and forced his family and associates to flee as part of a UDA purge of the lower Shankill area.
Adair and Woods will reappear at Bolton Magistrates' Court for a pre-trial review on 1 September.
