Belfast man killed in boating accident
A man has died following a boating accident in Co Fermanagh on Sunday.
Brian Bannister, 40, from the Castlereagh area of Belfast, had been enjoying a day’s boating with three friends on Upper Lough Erne when it is believed he fell of the front of the boat and was struck by it.
He was rescued from the water by his friends before being taken to hospital were he died from severe injuries to his head and torso.
SDLP assembly member Tommy Gallagher said the dead man's family and friends should be given support following the tragedy.
"Whilst for many, boating on Lough Erne can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience we must also be constantly vigilant and aware of the dangers associated with it and other water based activities,” he added.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact detectives on 028 6632 2823.

Teenager dies after boat capsizes
A Maghera teenager has died following a boating accident in Lough Neagh yesterday. Paddy Kelly, who was 17, was with his friend and uncle when their open boat capsized in six-foot swells during stormy weather. While both his uncle and friend reached the shore relatively safely, the teenager was found unconscious on the lough shore.
