Man stabbed while out walking his dog

A 61-year-old man has been stabbed while out walking his dog in Londonderry on Tuesday.

The victim was walking his dog along a laneway near the Springtown Industrial Estate when two men approached him. They asked the man for a cigarette before one of the assailants lunged at him and stabbed him in the chest.

He was immediately taken to hospital however his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Hero Army Dog Handlers Honoured
Murdered soldiers who worked with specialist 'sniffer' dogs during the Northern Ireland Troubles have been remembered. The 'Red Paw' and its work across Northern Ireland was the subject of a special memorial service held in England at the weekend. It was in honour of the six dog handlers and two sniffer dogs killed in Northern Ireland.

Man Sexually Assaulted While Walking His Dog
PSNI Detectives have issued an appeal for information following a report of a serious sexual assault in the Woodvale Avenue area of North Belfast. It has been reported, that at around 19:30 on Saturday 7th January, a man, aged in his 40s, was walking in the area with his two dogs when he was approached by three unknown men and sexually assaulted.

Man Assaulted In Carrickfergus
Police are appealing for information after a man walking his dog was attacked by another dog walker in Carrickfergus. The incident happened at Prince William Way on Monday 26 August. At approximately 6.30pm, a man walking his dog was assaulted and knocked unconscious by another man who was walking two Japanese Akita dogs.

Court Date In 'Dog Walker Stabbing' Case
A man has been charged with attacking two men standing outside a bar in west Belfast earlier this month. The attack took place on the Springfield Road where the pair were injured by a man apparently out walking a dog at about 11.50pm Thursday, 12 June. Now, a 33-year-old has been charged with attempted murder over the attack last week.

Police Appeal For Witnesses To East Belfast Shooting
Police are appealing for witnesses to a shooting in east Belfast on Sunday, 09 September. A man was walking along the Connswater Greenway between 8pm and 8:30pm, from the direction of Orangefield towards Clarawood, when he was shot at by a masked man. Two shots were reportedly fired from a revolver but the man was not injured.
