Dissident republicans blamed for 'crude' device
Dissident republicans are being blamed for a "crude but viable" bomb which was left outside a GGA club in Co Armagh on Tuesday.
The device, which was destined for a nearby police station, was eventually made safe by army personnel, however in a subsequent police operation officers came under attack from youths who threw more than 30 petrol bombs as well as other missiles, including bricks, bottles and ball bearings.
Seven officers were injured during the incident including one officer who was treated in hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly said the device was "the work of dissident republicans, there is no doubt about it" .
"In Lurgan we are used to home-made bombs being used to entice police officers to a location where they are attacked," she added.
Upper Bann DUP MP David Simpson described the incident as "very sinister" and said such a device could have caused fatalities in Lurgan police station.

A viable device found during a security alert in north Belfast is believed to be linked to a hate crime. Police and army bomb disposal experts attended the scene at Atlantic Avenue on Thursday, 25 August. A number of residents were evacuated from their homes, however they have since returned.

Suspicious Device Found In Antrim
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a suspicious device found in Co Antrim in the early hours of Thursday morning. Bomb disposal experts launched the security operation after the package was discovered at around 2am in a small wooded area on the Shore Road.

Search Continues For Explosive Device In L'Derry
Police are continuing to carry out searches in L'Derry after being informed that a suspicious device has been left in the city. The search, on the Madam's Bank Road, is resuming after being told an explosive device had been abandoned in the area. Residents and motorists are being urged to be vigilant.

A controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable incendiary device discovered on the grounds of Ballycastle Police Station, Co Antrim. A second device found has been declared a hoax. They were discovered on the Ramoan Road on Thursday morning. A number of businesses were forced to close during the alert, however they have now reopened.
