Last week's gloom over engineering job losses in Northern Ireland was lightened on Monday with news that the £44m educational building contract had been signed. Belfast Metropolitan College's (BMC) new multi-million pound city centre campus will be located in the Titanic Quarter in east Belfast.

A Cookstown company that specialises in waste reduction and recycling equipment has secured a major contract in Brazil. CDEnviro in County Tyrone secured its first major contract in the country following a trade mission organised by Invest Northern Ireland.

Plot Thickens As Aer Lingus Pilots Play Their Ace
Despite the suspension of five pilots at Aer Lingus, the threat of a possible strike has receded. Management carried out its threat to begin suspending pilots refusing to train new recruits in a dispute over pay and conditions for the airline's planned new hub at Belfast.

Shorts employees return to work
Over 4,000 employees at Belfast aerospace company, Shorts returned to work today after strike action over pay and conditions was called off. Union representatives from the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU) followed on a decision reached yesterday by Amicus to call off their industrial action which began last week.
