Plans approved for £1m Respite Care Unit
Plans have been approved for a new £1 million Respite Care Unit in Dungannon, for Adults with a Learning Disability.
The unit will provide short term respite care in a day care centre, rather than a hospital setting.
Health Minister Shaun Woodward said: "I am thrilled to be able to approve £1million for a new respite care unit in Dungannon. People with a learning disability deserve the same quality of life that we all enjoy. Their families and carers deserve support in the tireless work which they do to this end.”
He said the new unit would provide much needed locally accessible respite care and support for adults with learning disabilities in the Dungannon area.
“As such, it is an important element in a service which must do more to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in our society,” he concluded.
