Searches carried out following bomb warning

Police in Armagh, Banbridge, Lisburn, Moira and Dungannon carried out searches yesterday following a coded warning about explosive devices given to a Belfast media outlet during the early hours of the morning.

Fifteen locations in total were mentioned in the warning, half of which were in the Armagh area, including the Portadown Road, the Hamiltonsbawn Road, the Killyleagh Road and the Loughgall area. The other locations included Dungannon, Scarva, the M1 motorway, between Lisburn & Lurgan, and the A1 dual carriageway, between Banbridge & Hillsborough.

One viable device was found in a vehicle on the Monaghan Rd between Millford village and Armagh City.

It was made safe by army technical officers and has been taken away for forensic examination.

No devices were found in any of the other areas.
