Business destroyed & homes evacuated as bonfire ruptures gas pipeline

An eleventh night bonfire in east Belfast ruptured a gas pipeline on Monday night, causing more than thirty homes to be evacuated and destroying a 3-storey commercial building, including a Chinese takeaway.

The destroyed building was in Dromore Street off Cregagh Road, and no-one was injured in the incident.

During the course of the eleventh night firefighters were attacked by stone throwers five times as they dealt with more than 300 call-outs, 61 of which were bonfire-related.

Man suffers minor injuries in house fire
A 59-year-old man has been rescued from his bedroom after a fire broke out in his Ballymoney home. The alarm was raised shortly after 2.30am and police, fire and ambulance services were all called to attend the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and burns to his head.

Fire at business premises being treated as malicious
A fire has completely destroyed unoccupied business premises in Londonderry. The blaze was discovered just before 12am on Sunday and is being treated as malicious by police. The fire was discovered at the business premises, a former furniture warehouse, on North Edward Street in the Strand Road area of the city.

Homes Damaged After Blaze From Shankill Bonfire Spreads
A number of homes have been destroyed after they caught fire during an Eleventh night bonfire in the Shankill Road area in Belfast. Three homes were damaged after a blaze broke out on the roofs of homes in the Hopewell Square area at around 1am on Tuesday, 12 July.

Teenager Suffers Burns At Eleventh Night Bonfire
A teenage boy has been hospitalised after suffering burns at an Eleventh Night bonfire in north Belfast. The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning, 12 July, at around 12.30am in the Silverstream Crescent Area. He sustained burns to his face and body and remains in hospital at this time.

Police Appeal After Young Man Seriously Assaulted In Co Down
Police are appealing for witnesses after a young man sustained serious injuries during an assault at an Eleventh night bonfire in Co Down. The attack happened in the Westwinds Estate in Newtownards at around 1am.
