Police attacked in ‘serious disturbances’ in Armagh

Stone throwers have attacked police officers, during what were described as “serious disturbances” in Armagh in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police said that large crowds gathered in the Shambles and Moy Road roundabout areas shortly after 12:30am and began to throw stones and other missiles at officers.

One police officer received minor injuries following the disturbances.

Six adults and one juvenile were arrested. They have all been released pending further police inquiries.

Police have expressed concerns over the numbers of young people in drunken states who were involved in the disturbances.
