Two released in murder inquiry

Two men arrested in connection with the murder of a man in east Belfast last week have been released without charge.

Jameson Lockhart, 25, from north Belfast, was shot as he sat in a lorry on the lower Newtownards Road on Friday.

He had been clearing rubble from the site of the now-demolished ‘Avenue One’ bar with a colleague when the shooting occurred.

Detectives investigating the murder arrested two men on Monday however they were released on Thursday. Detectives are still refusing to speculate on a motive however sources indicate the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) was behind the killing.

A number of searches have also been carried out by police in east Belfast as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Man Arrested Over East Belfast Stabbing
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of a 66-year-old man in east Belfast on Tuesday afternoon. The attack occurred at Wolsey's tackle shop on the Upper Newtownards Road at about 15:30.

Detectives to revisit murder scene
Detectives are to revisit the scene of last week’s murder of 25-year-old Jameson Lockhart later on Friday. There will be checkpoints on the lower Newtownards Road and Templemore Avenue in east Belfast close to where Mr Lockhart was shot dead. Detectives said they wanted to talk to motorists who were in the area last Friday morning.

North Belfast Murder Victim Conor McKee Shot A Number Of Times
31-year-old north Belfast murder victim Conor McKee was shot a number of times, police have revealed. Mr McKee was found dead by his mother at his Glenpark Street home last Thursday night. Two men arrested over the murder have been released on bail.

'Security document' stolen from Castlereagh, Minister confirms

Youth Released Without Charge Over Double Murder Inquiry
The teenager arrested in connection with inquiries into the deaths of two men in Belfast last March has been released without charge. Police had arrested the 16-year-old male on Tuesday in west Belfast. Edward Burns, 36, was found shot dead at Bog Meadows in west Belfast in the early hours of March 12, 2007.
