Train conductor threatened at knifepoint during robbery

Police are appealing for information after a ticket conductor was robbed at knifepoint on a train in Co Down.

The incident, which occurred at around 8am on Friday, saw the conductor forced to hand over his takings shortly after the train left Belfast for Bangor.

The assailant is believed to have escaped when the train stopped at Holywood station. No one was injured during the robbery.

A spokesperson for Translink condemned the robbery describing it as "quite an horrific incident".

Video footage from CCTV cameras which were installed on the train to help police identify the robber are to be downloaded for investigation.
