Man stabbed several times in serious assault

A man has been stabbed several times during a serious assault in Co Down on Tuesday.

At around 9.15pm a man answered a knock at the front door of a house in the Grovehill area of Bangor. Two males confronted him and beat him about the head and face with a brick before stabbing him several times in the leg.

The 33-year-old was taken by ambulance to hospital however his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The two assailants are described as in their mid to late thirties. The first was approx 5’ 8” tall and of stout build with black mid length wavy hair and wore a black coloured t-shirt with a stripe on the shoulder.

The second male is described as approximately 5’ 6" tall with short dark hair who had a goatee beard and stubble. He also wore a black t-shirt with a light coloured motif.

It is believed the men fled from the house on foot before getting into a car.

A motive for the attack has yet to be established however police do not believe the incident was sectarian or drugs related.

Appeal For Information On Incident In West Belfast
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a violent incident in west Belfast on Tuesday, 13 June. According to police, at around 1.30pm yesterday, three men approached a property in the Fallswater Street area. At the property, one of the three men is believed to have produced a firearm and threatened a female residence.
