'High risk' prisoner escapes from courthouse
A man described by police as a 'high risk' prisoner has escaped from a courthouse in Co Antrim on Tuesday.
Two security officers were injured during the incident, which happened at approximately 1.35pm at Lisburn Courthouse.
The man who absconded has been named as David Albert Taggart, 24. He is described as 5’ 9" tall and of medium build with blue eyes, with a fresh complexion and short dirty fair hair and ginger stubble around his chin.
He was wearing a blue shirt and jeans. Police follow up searches are currently underway.
DUP MLA for the area Edwin Poots described the news of Taggart's escape as "extremely disturbing".
"Questions must now be asked as to why this situation developed and how a prisoner was able to escape custody. I hope those individual officers who were hurt make a speedy recovery," Mr Poots said.
Police have requested anyone who sees this person not to approach him and to contact Lisburn police station immediately on 028 9266 5212, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
