Equipment damaged at Antrim Road building site
Police in North Belfast have appealed for information after damage, estimated to run into hundreds of thousands of pounds, was caused at a building site off the Antrim Road.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 12 noon on Sunday and found equipment belonging to contractors who are currently tasked with clearing the site, had been destroyed.
It is believed two forklift trucks and two diggers were destroyed by fire and a quantity of plant equipment was vandalised.
A number of youths were seen in the area prior to police arrival.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them at Tennent Street on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man questioned about 1988 murder
A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

Construction equipment manufacturer Caterpillar is to axe 140 jobs from its factories in Larne, Monkstown and west Belfast. Alliance East Antrim MLA, Stewart Dickson, said he is disappointed at the job losses and his thoughts are with the workers and their families. He said: "I hope that the job losses can be addressed through voluntary redundancy.

Man suffers minor injuries in house fire
A 59-year-old man has been rescued from his bedroom after a fire broke out in his Ballymoney home. The alarm was raised shortly after 2.30am and police, fire and ambulance services were all called to attend the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and burns to his head.

Blaze Dramas Unfold
An investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the three fires, including one where pensioners had to be evacuated from their homes - as well as a petrol bomb attack. A row of terraced houses under construction at Milltown Street in Dungannon sustained extensive damage in the fire which was reported at 7.10am on Saturday.
