Dell offers PC recycling service
Leading computer firm Dell has called on Northern Ireland business and home customers to take advantage of a wide range of recycling options that are now available for old computers.
The appeal follows research recently commissioned by Dell, which highlights a high lack of awareness among customers in the UK and Ireland of the recycle and reuse options that are available when computers reach their end of life.
The research, carried out by the Survey Shop, shows that while consumers now dispose of household waste in a responsible manner, they do not apply the same practices to their computers, which are no longer in use.
Jackie Crookes, Business Development Manager with Dell Northern Ireland said: "Dell's philosophy is 'No Computer Should Go To Waste' and key to meeting that goal is making our customers aware that we have recycling services that are easy-to-use, safe and affordable.
“These new services are part of Dell's global effort to increase product recovery by fifty percent this year. We are committed to minimising impacts on the environment at all stages of the product life cycle, including product retirement."
Through the new Dell recycling programme, Dell said it will offer Northern Ireland business customers Dell Asset Recovery Services (ARS), which allow customers to recycle or re-sell used computer equipment by any manufacturer.
This offer includes all computer-related equipment including desktops, notebooks, servers, storage, monitors, printers, projectors and computer peripherals.
Customers simply have to log on to the Dell website at either www.dell.ie/recycling or www.dell.co.uk/recycling and enter their details to arrange the free collection directly from their home.

The findings follow a series of second-quarter profit losses reported by many companies in the PC industry, which have been more severe than analysts’ forecasts. Hewlett Packard posted a fall of 18.
