Dunwoody rules out return to the saddle
Ulster born jump jockey star Richard Dunwoody has denied claims he is to make a comeback in the saddle.
The 41-year-old retired from riding in 1999 because of a neck injury however despite a successful operation in September recent tests have shown that arthritis will rule out any possible return to the saddle.
"Unfortunately, I will not be taking AP McCoy (current champion jockey) on at Cheltenham next year,” Dunwoody said. "I am disappointed but it was a bit of a pipe dream. I am fitter and healthier now than when I retired.
"I was hoping for the impossible a little bit anyway but had my neck looked good and the X-rays looked good then I certainly would have come back.
"I'm 41 and Conor O'Dwyer and Carl Llewellyn are riding as well as ever so there was no reason not to come back on account of my age."
Dunwoody, who rode 1,699 winners in Britain during his 16 year career, said he plans to concentrate on motivational speaking and television work in the future.

Warning Issued After Jewellery Stolen In Antrim Burglary
The PSNI have issued a warning to jewellers and antique dealers to be on the lookout for a stolen gold watch with the inscription: "Honorary Consul to North Africa". Police made the call after thieves stole cash, expensive watches and antiques from a house in Glenavy. A store nearby was also broken into and horse riding equipment was taken.

Policewoman Killed In Horse Riding Accident
A policewoman has been killed in a horse riding accident in Ballygowan, Co Down. Constable Claire Lowe, 39, fell from her horse while she was taking part in a hunting event on Wednesday, 26 October. She is believed to have died at the scene. Lisburn and Castlereagh City District Commander Supt Sean Wright said: "Claire was in the prime of her life.

A Belfast girl has got back in the saddle after 15 years to raise funds for NI Cancer Fund for Children (NICFC). Grand Opera House employee Claire Donnelly has conquered her fear and got back on a bike after 15 years to help launch a sponsored cycle from Newcastle to Belfast on September 9.

Appeal to find Thomas Hollran killers re-launched
Police in Carrickfergus have re-launched their appeal to find those responsible for the murder of a man in the town in February. They have also urged the people of the town to stop protecting the loyalist paramilitaries who are believed to be connected to the killing .
