Police issue bogus callers warning
Police in Belfast, Antrim and Downpatrick have warned the public to be wary following a number of recent incidents involving bogus callers.
Over the past few weeks there have been several reports received by officers where a man and a woman have been involved in targeting the homes of older people. In most cases detectives are linking the reports to the same man and woman.
It is understood that the woman calls at the doors of people living alone, then cons her way into the house by claiming that the householder has won a kitchen or that she is from the Social Services.
She then puts the door lock on the snib and whilst she engages the householder in the kitchen her male accomplice searches the house for money.
The woman is described as being in her early 20’s, around 5’ 2” tall, and well dressed. She has been seen wearing a black jacket, a white blouse and has her shoulder length brown hair tied back. She normally carries a notebook.
The man is believed to be in his 20’s, around 5’ 6” tall and has dark wavy hair and is described as having beard stubble.
Anyone who has had a similar experience or who has any information about the couple involved is asked to contact Police at Musgrave Street or Antrim Road on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
