Teenage girl escapes serious injury in pellet gun shooting

It has emerged that a 13-year-old girl has escaped serious injury after being struck in the face by a pellet.

The incident, which occurred in the Gobnascale area of the Waterside on Sunday, saw the girl fired on by a person in a passing car from either a BB gun or an air pistol. There are no further details at present. Police have appealed for anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

Elsewhere at the weekend, police are appealing for information after a man wielding a stun gun chased two youths down a street in Co Londonderry.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Limavady, when a police patrol spotted the youths running along Main Street.

A man running after them held an object which appeared to crackle and give off electrical shocks.

When stopped he told officers it was an "electric shock device" which was later confirmed as a stun gun. He was subsequently arrested by the officers.
