Fire service deal with hotel blaze

The Fire and Rescue Service have dealt with a number of blazes across Northern Ireland at the weekend.

In the most recent incident, firefighters had to deal with a fire in the kitchen of the Wellington Park Hotel in south Belfast on Sunday.

The fire, which is thought to have started accidentally, saw staff and guests being moved from the building until it was safe to return. There were no reports of any injuries.

On Saturday a fire is thought to have been started maliciously at a flat in Strabane.

The incident, which occurred at around 5am, saw one resident raise the alarm and manage to evacuate all the other residents in the block of flats at Lisnafin Park.

The flat was completely gutted in the blaze while a number of neighbouring flats were smoke damaged. No-one was injured.

Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
