UU to take part in pan-European e-project

The University of Ulster has been chosen to take part in a pan-European project to help companies in former Iron Curtain countries build up their e-business and e-work expertise.

Maurice Mulvenna, a senior lecturer in computer science at UU, was invited to work with partners from 11 European countries on the IST-BONUS project which aims to assist companies, universities, consultants and national contact centres improve their research capabilities.

Mr Mulvenna said: “This project brings together research experience with research potential. I am looking forward to assisting organisations from all over Europe to learn about how best to participate in winning research proposals that will make a real impact on their countries”.

The project, which is to continue until February 2007, will concentrate in two broad areas – e-business and e-work – and chosen organisations in the target countries of Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania will be able to avail of the expertise and technical know-how of the project partners.

Robotics And Automation Research Project For NI's Agri-food Industry
A new research and development project to investigate the opportunities for robotics and automation in the NI Agri-food industry has been launched by Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots. The Minister said that robotics and automation in the agri-food industry could improve productivity, reduce waste, maximise safety and lower costs.
