Three people appear in court following Waterside murder

Three people have appeared in court on Monday on charges relating to the murder of a 42-year-old man in Londonderry at the weekend.

Nigel Murphy died after being assaulted at his house in Clooney Terrace in the Waterside at about 6pm on Saturday.

Neville Wray of Sheskin Gardens, Gareth Wray of no fixed abode and their sister Kirsty McConomy of Melrose Terrace appeared at Londonderry Magistrate's Court on Monday.

A fourth person, also charged with murder, Sean Moore from Mimosa Court, was not in court to hear the charges being read out.

All four denied the charges put to them and were remanded in custody until 12 May.

A man has been charged with possessing a firearm in Lurgan, County Armagh. He was also charged with making threats to kill and was detained following an incident in the Hill Street area on Saturday. A man, 19, was threatened, however he managed to escape.

Two men appear in court on charges of child abduction
Two men have appeared in Belfast High Court on charges of planning to abduct a child. One of the men has been named as Henry Termonia, of Castle Park, Dervock, who was refused bail on a charge of conspiring with another man to kidnap an unknown child. The men were arrested in Portstewart earlier this month following a police surveillance operation.
