Grocery firm confirms £600k investment plan
A leading grocery company is to invest more than £600,000 in its Northern Ireland operations, it was confirmed today.
Management at Robt Roberts Ltd, part of the value added sales, marketing and support services group DCC plc, said the £600,000 investment at its Lisburn plant would improve business for both the company and its customers in the Northern Ireland grocery trade.
General Manager Gareth Bradley said: “New product development (NPD) is the lifeblood of our business.
“Consumers demand it and this year we will be launching lots of exciting new brands and range extensions such as McCoy’s Specials, which will see KP launch its first share bag offering to the market. KP is also launching Hula Hoops Cheese & Onion and the Origins nut range.”
The investment includes more than £100,000 in a new handheld sales and order capture system, the enhancement of the company’s van sales division with the purchase of four new vehicles, the development of a new merchandising team and the recruitment of key personnel to drive business forward for the company in Northern Ireland.
Robt Roberts arrived in Northern Ireland in 1987 when it acquired Old Mill Marketing in Lisburn. Founded in 1976, DCC is headquartered in Ireland and currently employs 4,500 people with an annual turnover of €2.2bn.
