PSNI reveal cocaine success
Police have revealed more details about Tuesday’s cocaine seizure in Co Tyrone, in which three men were arrested.
At least six kilogrammes of cocaine intended for distribution throughout Northern Ireland, with a potential street value of £480,000, were seized during the operation in Moy.
Detective Superintendent Hayden Bell, Head of the PSNI Drugs Squad, confirmed that along with the cocaine other utensils and chemical substances which police believe were to be mixed with the drug were also found.
An Garda Siochanna also carried out a search on the same day following a request from the PSNI, Mr Bell said.
“It has gone on for several months and there has been co-operation throughout that period of time with An Garda Siochanna National Drugs Squad,” he said.
“The Garda Siochanna reacted in response to our request immediately. There was no delay and that secured the seizure of further cocaine and cannabis in the Irish Republic. This cocaine was being prepared for further distribution, so that is why we regard this seizure as a significant success.”
Detectives said the find represents the latest blow struck against the growing cocaine market in Northern Ireland.
