Two arrested following ‘serious assault’

Two people have been arrested and are currently helping police with their enquiries following a 'serious assault' in Londonderry at the weekend.

At approximately 2am on Sunday two men were taken to hospital suffering from injuries sustained during an assault in the Bracken Park area of the city. Both victims remain in hospital.

One of the victims is in a serious but stable condition suffering from head injuries. The other remains in a comfortable condition after sustaining cuts and bruising to his face and body.

Detectives investigating the assault are working to establish a motive.

Man Attacked In L'Derry
A gang of masked men have attacked a man in Co L'Derry. The assault happened at a property on Rockmount Gardens just after 1.30am on Wednesday, 18 January. The victim, aged in his 40s, sustained injuries to his arm and leg, however they are not believed to be life threatening. The suspects are believed to have made off in a waiting car.

A man has been injured following a paramilitary-style attack in Co L'Derry. The assault happened in the Glenowen area at around 11pm on Tuesday, 12 July. The victim was attacked after several men forced their way into a house in the area. The man, aged in his 20s, sustained injuries to his leg.

Detectives are appealing for information following a report of a burglary in Ahoghill on Tuesday, 12th November. Police received a report that the back door of a house on the Ballymena Road was forced open shortly before 6pm.

Police have appealed for information following a serious assault in Newtownards, County Down. A man is being treated in hospital for "severe injuries" he sustained when he was attacked at a house in Mark Street on Thursday.

Man Dies In Co Antrim Collision
A 62-year-old man has died after his car crashed into a lorry in County Antrim. The collision occurred on the Lisnevenagh Road at around 8pm on Tuesday. A man and a woman who were travelling in the lorry also sustained injuries, however they are not believed to be life-threatening. The road is currently closed and diversions have been put in place.
