Belfast estate agent released on bail

Leading Belfast estate agent Philip Johnston has been granted bail after being accused of money laundering.

Solicitors for Mr Johnston made the successful application at Belfast’s High Court on Wednesday.

Mr Johnston, who employs more than 40 staff in six agencies in and around east Belfast, appeared in court on Monday to face four money laundering charges in connection with property.

Detective Sergeant Raymond Cromie, who is investigating the case, told Belfast Magistrates' Court he could connect the accused to the charges.

Mr Johnston replied not guilty to each alleged offence but had bail postponed until police carried out relevant searches in regard to the case.
