Woman held hostage in £1 million south Belfast robbery

Police in Belfast are investigating the suspected theft of up to £1 million in cash from a security firm on the outskirts of the city.

One woman is believed to have been held hostage during the robbery which reportedly took place at Creighton's filling station in the Finaghy area of south Belfast on Tuesday morning.

Part of this filling station and nearby Diamond Gardens have been cordoned off as officers investigate the scene.

Police have also cordoned off a large disused house on Annadale Avenue in south-east Belfast as forensic officers examine the driveway and a garage in the back garden.

There are no further details at present.

Man Stabbed In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after a 35-year-old man was stabbed in an attack in north Belfast on Thursday. The man was assaulted by two men in the early hours, just before 04:20, at Brookhill Avenue. Police said the man was stabbed in his left arm and left leg and also had his wallet taken in the incident.

McParland Murder - Woman Released
A woman has been released after being arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Sean McParland in north Belfast in February 1994. The 41-year-old woman was arrested on the morning of Monday 22 September, and taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim Police Station for questioning.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
