Shopping centre targeted in firebomb attack
Ards shopping centre has been targeted for the second time this week in an attempted fire bomb attack.
Today’s device was found at around 12.20pm but was eventually made safe by army technical officers.
On Easter Monday a burnt-out incendiary found in a store in the shopping centre was blamed on dissident republicans.
Dissident’s are also thought to have been behind two other devices found at Forestside over the Easter weekend.
Police have called on shopkeepers and the public to be on the alert.
Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland, who is responsible for the operational policing of Urban Region, said: "These devices put lives and property at risk and cause unnecessary disruption to all.
"We are asking business owners and managers to review security measures and check premises thoroughly both during and after trading. An extra few minutes could make a difference."
