Derry firm to invest £1.1m in textile market

Northern Ireland’s largest corporate uniform manufacturer and supplier is to invest £1.1 million to assist the company meet the challenges posed in an ever changing textile market.

Londonderry-based Hunter Apparel Solutions, which currently employs 92 staff and expects to create 13 extra jobs, will be assisted in their development by Invest NI.

“Building our technical capability and reinforcing this with a strategic design focus will be vital as we maintain and improve our market position,” Graham Hunter, Managing Director, Hunter Apparel Solutions said.

“By offering more innovative, specialised products, anticipating the needs of niche markets and developing strategic partnerships, Hunter’s will use the challenges faced by the textile and apparel industry as an opportunity to offer valued added products and exploit commercial opportunities in export markets.”

The company, which is the largest corporate uniform manufacturer and supplier in Northern Ireland, specialises in delivering individually tailored uniform packs for global companies and emergency service personnel - selling and managing the projects on-line from their base at Springtown Industrial Estate.

L'Derry Security Alert Continues Following Weapon Find
A security alert in L'Derry is continuing after police found a weapon near the City Cemetery. A suspicious object was discovered at the cemetery in the Lone Moor Road area on Wednesday afternoon. Police have sealed off the area and are continuing to search the scene.
