Firefighters attacked by stone throwing youths

Firefighters have been attacked by a gang of youths in Belfast for the second consecutive night.

Fire crews were attacked by a crowd of up to 20 youths after putting out a blaze at Belvoir Forest Park. They were caught at a garden fence fire in Jamaica Street and pelted with stones during the incident, however there were no reports of any injuries.

A spokesperson for the fire service condemned those behind the attacks.

"This is having an affect on their morale," he said. "Unfortunately, there is this hard core of people who are very hard to reach and continue to attack my firefighters as they go about their duties.”

A fire crew has come under attack while attending a blaze in County Londonderry yesterday evening. The fire service were called to the scene of a suspected arson attack at a farm building on the Whitehouse Road area of Coshquin, at around 10pm when the attack happened.

Fire crews attacked at Derry fire
Firefighters in Londonderry have been attacked while tackling a fire in the city yesterday evening. It has been reported that fire crews were attending the scene of a gorse fire at Earhart Park in the Shantallow area at around 10.30pm, when they came under attack.

Firefighters Attacked During Halloween Calls
A number of firefighters have been attacked while responding to Halloween call outs on Tuesday, 31 October. The incidents happened in Armagh, Keady, Crossmaglen and Belfast. No one was injured, however an appliance was slightly damaged in Keady.
