Newtownabbey man injured in robbery
A man in his 60’s has been left badly injured following a robbery in Newtownabbey at the weekend.
The 62-year-old man was depositing money at a bank on the Monkstown Road at around 1.30 pm when he was approached by a man carrying a hammer.
The assailant hit him on the head and then kicked him before escaping with a substantial sum of money. The victim was admitted to hospital where he was treated for a cut to the head, a broken nose and bruising on his body.
The attacker is described as being in his early 20s, 6’ tall, and wearing a white or cream-coloured hooded top and possibly blue jeans.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw somebody run down the Monkstown Road at the time of the incident is urged to contact detectives in Newtownabbey on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Co Antrim Man Found Dead In Ibiza Sustained Head Injuries
A County Antrim man found dead in a hotel room in Ibiza sustained head injuries, according to Ireland's expert State Pathologist. Alan Drennan, 21, was found dead just 24 hours after arriving in Ibiza. Off licence robbed in south Belfast
A man armed with a handgun has robbed an off-licence in the University Road area of south Belfast. Shortly after 7pm, a man entered the premises and produced a handgun and demanded money from the till. The man made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

Two Injured In Newtownabbey Attack
Two men have been injured following an attack in Newtownabbey on Monday night. A group of men assaulted the two men in Braden Glen at around 10.30pm. One of the victims is believed to have a suspected broken arm and leg, while the other man suffered swelling to the side of his head and a cut on his nose.

Teenager attacked and man shot in Newtownabbey area
A 14-year-old boy was badly injured on Sunday after being viciously attacked by three masked men armed with baseball bats embedded with nails. The teenage victim was walking past shops in the loyalist Monkstown Estate in Newtownabbey, County Antrim, when he was set upon and then savagely beaten by the gang.
