Police question three people after man’s death in Belfast

Three men have been arrested for questioning after a man found seriously injured in the Jamaica Road area of north Belfast subsequently died.

The man, believed to have been in his thirties, and who has now been identified by police as Stephen Montgomery, had sustained severe injuries to his head and body. Found at around 3am on Sunday morning, he was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

Two men, aged 25 and 28, initially arrested by police and a third man, aged 22, is now also helping police with their enquiries in connection with the incident.

Police, however, are keen to talk to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Jamaica Road area in the early hours of Sunday.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances around the death of a man, aged in his 80s, in L'Derry. On Wednesday, 17 July, the man's body was found in a house in the Culmore Road area of the city.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Witness Appeal After Stabbing Incident In Downpatrick
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses following an assault in the Ardilea Park area of Downpatrick in the early hours of Sunday morning, 10 December. A 22-year-old man was found with serious stab wounds at a house in the Killough Road area just after 4am. He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance.
