Advice day for NI enterprises hailed as ‘great success’

Over 1,300 represantatives from local businesses have attended this year’s Customs and Inland Revenue Business Advice Open Day at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.

Jim Maclean, Customs’ Regional Business Head said the Open Day was aimed at helping small businesses "survive" in the 21st Century.

“The number of people attending these events has risen by 25% and I am delighted at the number of local businesses who will benefit from the excellent advice available. Businesses that take advice have a far better chance of surviving, than those that don’t,” Mr Maclean said.

Tina Gallagher, Director of Inland Revenue Northern Ireland added: “I am delighted that the Inland Revenue is working in partnership with HM Customs & Excise and other organisations to provide help and advice to businesses in Northern Ireland.

“We are all aware of the demands placed upon businesses and the practical difficulties that can arise from dealing with several Government Departments and Agencies. I am therefore particularly pleased that events such as this bring together a wide range of Government Departments to provide a genuine One Stop opportunity."

Organised by Customs and Excise in partnership with Inland Revenue and sponsored locally by Invest NI, the Open Day programme offers a unique opportunity for local businesses, with a host of public and private sector business support organisations on hand to provide a wealth of free advice and information.
