Belfast Lotto winner fails to claim £7m prize
National Lottery organisers Camelot have been unsuccessful in finding the winner of a £7 million ticket bought in Belfast last August.
The deadline for the winning ticket, which was bought in Belfast for the Lotto Extra draw held on 7 August 2004, expired at 5.30pm on Thursday.
The winner matched all six numbers; 3, 5, 8, 18, 28 and 48, to win £7,039,469, however, since the winner has failed to come forward, the money will become the biggest unclaimed prize in the history of the lottery.
A Camelot spokesman said: "Unfortunately, I can confirm that nobody came forward with the winning ticket within the deadline to claim their prize.
"This money will now go to the Good Causes, adding to the £16 billion which, over the last 10 years, has funded the biggest programme of civic regeneration seen in the UK since the 19th Century.”
The win was part of £16.3 million worth of unclaimed prizes from tickets bought in Kent, Lancashire, Gloucestershire and the West Midlands.
Last year, Belfast woman Iris Jeffrey, 58, became the biggest single winner in the history of the Lottery after she scooped the £20 million jackpot prize.
