Heavy snowfall causes traffic chaos
Heavy snowfall has caused traffic chaos across Northern Ireland with dozens of schools having to close.
In what has been described as some of the worst weather in recent years, traffic into the main cities and towns across the province ground to a halt as drivers took extra caution on the dangerous roads.
According to the Met Office, the north and west of Northern Ireland has been the worst hit, with reports of between 10-15 centimetres (4-6 inches) of snow falling overnight.
Around 1,000 customers were also left without electricity for a time in and around Toomebridge in Co Antrim because of the bad weather.
Meanwhile, flights in and out of Belfast City Airport have been experiencing problems and two flights to Heathrow have already been cancelled.
The Met Office has confirmed that further hail and snow showers are expected to last until lunchtime on Tuesday before turning to rain in the afternoon.
However tomorrow is expected to be a lot milder with scattered showers across the province.
