Security guard robbed at gunpoint in Belfast

Detectives at Musgrave Street have appealed for information after a security guard was threatened at gunpoint in Belfast on Thursday.

Shortly after 10am as the man was in the process of making a delivery to an Ulster Bank branch on University Road another man approached him and put a handgun against his head. He then took the cash box and made off into College Gardens where it was put into the back of a white Vauxhall Cavalier.

The vehicle was driven a short distance before being abandoned in traffic. Two males then got out off the car and escaped in a second car described as being blue/grey which made off in the direction of the Lisburn Road. The abandoned Cavalier has been taken for forensic examination.

One of the assailants has been described as being in his late teens or early 20’s, between 5’ 6" and 5’ 8", skinny with short dark hair shaved at the sides. He was clean-shaven with pale skin and a prominent nose and was wearing a blue/black fleece top, blue jeans and trainers.

Driver killed as car collides with lamppost
A 22-year-old man has been killed in a road traffic accident in Belfast. The accident occurred on the King's Road in Knock area shortly before midnight on Monday October 28. The man, who has not yet been named, died when his car struck a lamppost. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the accident.
