Gunshots fired at Craigavon home

Two people have been arrested following a gun attack on a house in Co Armagh last night.

The incident occurred at a property in West Acres estate, Craigavon, shortly before 3am on Thursday. However a motive for the attack has yet been established. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Elsewhere overnight, a 40-year-old man has been assaulted on the outskirts of west Belfast.

The victim was attacked by around five men outside a pub on the Twinbrook Road shortly before 9pm on Wednesday.

He is currently recovering in hospital after suffering a broken leg as well as cuts and bruising to his face, head and body.

The incident happened in the Summerhill Road area of Dunmurry shortly after 10.25pm on Wednesday, 14 April. Inspector McCullough said: "While our enquiries are at an early stage, this shooting bears the hallmarks of a paramilitary style assault.

Gun Attack In West Belfast
A gun attack in west Belfast has left a man in hospital. The man is being treated after he was shot in the leg in a house at Colinview Street. The incident occurred shortly before 8.30pm on Wednesday evening. Police say the victim's injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

No New Inquiry Into Birmingham Pub Bombings
Police have said there will be no new inquiry into the Birmingham pub bombings which killed 21 people and injured another 182 at Mulberry Bush and the Tavern in the Town in November 1974. Six people were wrongly jailed in 1975 and spent 17 years in jail, until 1991 when their convictions were quashed.
