Shop staff threatened with gun in robbery
Detectives in Belfast have appealed for information following a robbery at a west Belfast shopping centre on Sunday.
At around 2pm a member of staff went into the store at Choices gift shop in Park Centre and was confronted by two males, one armed with a handgun.
The gun was pushed into her neck and demands for the keys of the safe were made before the two men left the store with a sum of cash where it is believed a third man joined them. All three made off on foot in the direction of the Donegal Road.
Police at Grosvenor Road have urged anyone with any information about the robbery to contact them on 02890650222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Elsewhere on Sunday, a serious assault on an 18-year-old youth left him needing forty staples to his back and arm.
The incident occurred at around 12.30am when the victim was walking along the Antrim Road close to Fortwilliam shops.
Three males approached him armed with a knife and a claw hammer and proceeded to attack him with both weapons. He was later treated in hospital for cuts and bruises to his back, arm and leg.
Police are treating the incident as sectarian and have appealed for information.
