Waringstown man stabbed during robbery

A man in his 60s has been stabbed during a robbery at his home in Co Down.

The victim was getting out of his car on the Ballymabracken Road in Waringstown at around 6.30pm on Thursday when two masked men attacked him.

The ensuing struggle saw the man stabbed in the chest and leg. He was eventually taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Elsewhere on Thursday, a pensioner had her purse snatched by a group of teenagers in Co Antrim.

The woman, who is understood to be in her 80s, was walking to the bus station at Smithfield Square in Lisburn when she was pushed up against a wall and forced to hand over her purse by a group of four girls and two boys.

The incident occurred at around 6pm on Thursday and police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Shot In Legs In Co Armagh
A man has been shot in both legs in Co Armagh. A group of men forced their way into a house in the Meadowbank area of Craigavon and dragged the victim outside and shot him in both legs. The incident happened on Thursday night. The 26-year-old man has is being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Dies Suddenly In Co Armagh
A man in his 20s has suddenly passed away in Co Armagh. The victim died in the Hartfield Avenue area of Portadown on Thursday, 03 August. It is understood police are not treating the death as suspicious.

Teen Is Latest Road Death Tragedy
A teenage boy has died after a car crash in rural Co Fermanagh. The fatal accident happened on the Newbridge Road, between Derrylin and Lisnaskea, shortly before 9.10pm on Thursday night. Police said that another youth was injured in the crash, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The victim's name has not been released.

Man stabbed in Co Tyrone assault
A man was stabbed and three others injured following an assault in Co Tyrone at the weekend. It is believed that up to eight people tracked the group of three men and one woman as they left a bar in William Street, Dungannon, at around 1.20am on Sunday morning. The group, who were all from Coalisland, were then attacked in Irish Street.
