Belfast to get Yell call centre jobs boost
Up to 150 new jobs are to be created after Britain's biggest telephone directories publisher announced it is to open a new call centre in the province.
Yell, the parent company of Yellow Pages, has confirmed it will begin recruiting sales managers and other staff for a telephone sales operation in Belfast as part of a UK-wide expansion over the next two to three years.
Yell, the biggest supplier of classified directory advertising in the UK, operates four businesses: Yellow Pages; Business Pages; Yell.com; and the 118247 telephone service formerly known as Talking Pages.
Today’s investment is the second substantial jobs boost to be announced in the province in the past couple of days.
On Thursday the world’s largest financial services company announced it is to create 375 jobs in Belfast.
Citigroup said it is setting up a technology centre of excellence in Belfast which will contribute some £65 million to the local economy over its first five years.
Announcing the investment, Secretary of State Paul Murphy revealed that the project is being supported by Invest NI which is contributing over £7.6 million towards the venture.

Fujitsu cuts 4,500 jobs worldwide
Japanese electronics giant Fujitsu is set to cut a further 4,500 jobs worldwide by the end of March next year. While around 4,000 of the losses will come from plants outside Japan it is not known whether Fujitsu facilities in Northern Ireland will be affected by the decision.
