Council forge connections between culture and tourism
More than 100 key figures from Belfast’s cultural and tourism sectors are coming together next week to make vital business connections.
Belfast City Council is hosting the latest in a series of networking events at the Radisson SAS next Tuesday. Over the past 18 months these events have become important in the tourism sector with representatives from the city’s cultural attractions, venues, theatre companies, hotels, restaurants and marketing organisations.
“These events are stimulating a more proactive approach to partnerships throughout the city – between cultural venues, restaurants, tour operators and accommodation providers,” said Councillor Nelson McCausland, Chairman of the Council’s Tourism and Promotion of Belfast Sub-Committee.
“By sharing our expertise, we are really putting Belfast on the map of European cultural destinations, and ensuring that the whole of the city, including those who provide the wide diversity of cultural experience in Belfast, benefit from our growing tourism economy.”
Speakers sharing their experiences of how they are making tourism connections work for their events include Anthony McGrath, Marketing Manager with the Belfast Festival at Queen’s, and Joan Burney, Chief Executive of the Cinemagic Film Festival for Children and Young People, which opens on Thursday November 25.
