Restaurant chain to create 50 new Belfast jobs

One of the world’s most famous restaurants is coming to Belfast next year in a £2.5 million investment which is likely to create 50 new jobs.

Tony Roma's, the world famous grill restaurant renowned for its variety of ribs, is to open its new Belfast restaurant next February in the first of five planned establishments through the island of Ireland.

Drumard Trading Ltd, who currently run a number of Belfast bars including, The Sitting Room, Old Mill Bar, Brook Lodge and McEnaney's, secured the contract following three year’s of negotiations with Tony Roma's owners the Romacorp Group.

Commenting on the deal John Hughes, Chief Executive Officer, Drumard Trading Ltd said: "Our discussions with the Romacorp Group have been ongoing for over three years, so we're delighted to have secured the Franchise Partnership for this World Famous Restaurant. We believe that we're creating a dining experience that customers will return to enjoy time and again."

With almost 300 restaurants established in more than 27 countries world wide, Tony Roma's is famous for ribs but Mr Hughes insists that Belfast will have its own signature dish, served by a very special team: "We are currently recruiting staff for our Belfast venture - who will then be flown to the States for 11 weeks of training, before returning to deliver the Tony Roma's experience in Belfast."

The first Tony Roma's Restaurant was opened in Florida in 1972 and today boasts almost 300 restaurants worldwide. The first UK Tony Roma's was opened in Kensington London in October 2004.
