Service station robbed in north Belfast
Detectives in Newtownabbey are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery that occurred at a service station on the Shore Road in north Belfast.
Shortly after 10am Wednesday morning, a man entered the premises armed with a knife, threatened a member of staff and took a sum of money from the cash register.
A female shop assistant tried to tackle the robber, but he made off in the direction of the Doagh Road.
The assailant is described as five feet five inches tall, around 19 years old, with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue top with white stripes on the sleeves, and a beige baseball cap.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 028 9065 0222.
Elsewhere, Fraud Squad detectives have issued a warning following a suspected scam in Belfast.
A woman with an English accent purporting to be from Child Protection Services contacted a business in Belfast claiming that she had an invoice for the company for payment for 50 books, which could be sent to a school of the company’s choice.
The caller then asked for the company’s bank or credit card details allegedly to proceed the order - these were not given.
Detectives have asked businesses and members of the public to be on the alert to this type of scam.

Man Charged In East Belfast UVF Investigation
Detectives investigating the criminal activities of the east Belfast UVF have charged a man with a drug related offence. The 57 year-old will appear at Laganside Court on 12 December on the charge of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply. As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Pensioner dies in road collision
A man in his 80s has died following a road traffic collision in west Belfast. It is understood a lorry was involved in the incident which occurred at around 8:45am this morning. Detectives have asked for anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the event to contact them.
