Police arrest Coleraine man in connection with killing
Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Coleraine in connection with the murder of a Londonderry man in September.
Darren Thompson, 22, from Harkness Gardens in the Waterside area of the city, was found lying at the roadside in Woodburn Park with a bullet wound to the head.
His family had been keeping a bedside vigil for him at Altnagelvin hospital however he died of his injuries just two days later.
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man has gone on trial accused of bombing Stewartstown police station four years ago.
Brendan Gerard O'Connor, from Cavanoneill Road in Pomeroy, appeared before Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday but denies causing an explosion, the possession of explosives and Real IRA membership.
The court heard that a stolen car was driven up to the station on 8 July 2000 by two men who shouted warnings as they made off in a waiting car.
A barrister said the defendant could be linked to the getaway car by DNA evidence.
The trial continues.
