Police renew murder investigation appeal

Police have renewed an appeal for information on the murder of a Co Down pensioner exactly a year ago.

Ted O’Hare, 73, was discovered dead by his three brothers at their farmhouse on the Tullymore Road, in Loughbrickland last November.

Mr O'Hare's brothers were confronted by five masked men as they returned home from mass at around 8pm. The gang assaulted the brothers before ransacking the house and fleeing. It was then that Ted's body was discovered.

Police have issued E-fit photographs of three suspects whom they want to speak to in relation to similar crimes and said that every little piece of information could be of immense value and make a significant difference to the investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Derek Williamson said: "Even though it is now one year since Mr O'Hare's murder, police remain committed to following every possible lead in the investigation.

"I remain convinced that there are people who have a knowledge of events leading to the death of Mr O'Hare.

"Those people can still come forward and help police either by contacting Crimestoppers or police in Banbridge."
