Bank robbers hold family hostage overnight
Police have appealed for information after masked robbers held a family hostage in their Co Tyrone home overnight.
Two masked men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, held a man, a woman, and three children - aged between one and nine – hostage in their home at Hillview Park, Castlederg.
The men then ordered the man, who is an employee for the Ulster Bank in Strabane, to go to his branch and remove a sum of money.
When the man carried out the request at the bank in Abercorn Square, he was ordered to take a taxi to a picnic area near Lifford, Co Donegal, where a cash bag was handed over to a man in a dark-coloured Vauxhall Vectra car.
Police on both sides of the border are investigating the robbery and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious near the man's home at around 8.45pm on Thursday or who noticed a dark-coloured Vauxhall Vectra or a red Mitsubishi taxi in the Rosgier picnic area of Lifford around breakfast time on Friday.
