Elderly couple robbed by bogus workman

A bogus workman has robbed an elderly couple at their home in south Belfast.

The man called at the couples house in the Hampton Park area at about lunchtime on Thursday and, after tricking his way inside, pulled out a handgun and threatened the woman.

When the woman’s husband arrived home shortly afterwards he was also threatened before the man made off in the direction of the Ormeau Road with a sum of money and credit cards.

The assailant is described as being 5’6’ in height, dark and of swarthy complexion.

The police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
