Irvinestown facility to create 30 new jobs
Around 30 jobs are to be created following the official opening of a new facility in Irvinestown, which will provide workspace for small and developing businesses.
The Tullynagarn Regeneration Development, located in the former Daintyfit textile factory, incorporates 11,400 sq ft of workspace in four separate workspace units and has been developed by the Irvinestown Trustee Enterprise Company (ITEC) with support from the International Fund for Ireland, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development though the EU-funded Rural Development Programme, Invest NI and Fermanagh District Council.
At the opening of the facility, NIO Minister Barry Gardiner said: “This facility marks the latest step in the process of regeneration taking place in this area. It is a good example of the public and private sectors working together for the benefit of the community.
“This area has suffered from job losses in recent years, but many local organisations are working on the ground to stimulate economic development. The current demand for workspace shows that there is an increasing level of entrepreneurial activity and a growing confidence in the locality.”
Pat Monaghan of ITEC added: “ITEC recognises the contribution of small to medium sized enterprises to sustainable job creation in rural areas. Small business understands very well the advantages of close involvement in their local community. There is really inspirational, pioneering and challenging development ongoing in Irvinestown and much progress is being made economically, socially and environmentally.”
Funding for the development was secured from the Rural Development Council through the Rural Development Programme funded by the EU Programme for Building Sustainable Prosperity (£150,000), the International Fund for Ireland (£241,915), Irvinestown Trustee Enterprise Company (£60,000), Fermanagh District Council (£1500) and Invest NI (£65,168).
