Police link racial attacks

Police are linking a single gang to two separate racially motivated attacks in Co Down on Friday morning.

In the first incident a brick was thrown through the rear window of a car at Charles Way, Comber, at around 3.30am.

Shortly afterwards at Lower Crescent in the town, a brick was thrown through the window of a car and graffiti scrawled nearby.

Police would not reveal the nationality of those targeted however it is believed that they are of Turkish origin.

No one was injured in either incident.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Colin Horner Murder: Man Arrested
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner. Mr Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his young son in a supermarket car park on Sunday, 28 May. The man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Friday, 16 June. He has been taken to Musgrave Police station for questioning.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman. It is understood two men entered the shop at about 10am on Thursday, one of them was carrying a suspected firearm.

Claims Officer Smashed Car Window Despite Being Offered Keys Rejected
Claims that a police officer smashed a car window despite being offered the keys of the vehicle have been rejected by the Police Ombudsman. The incident happened as police responded to reports of suspicious activity in the early hours of the morning in a forest outside Benburb in August last year.

Eight PSNI Officers Disciplined Following Two High Speed Car Chases
Eight police officers have been disciplined after two high speed car chases in which one person died and three others were seriously injured. The Police Ombudsman found that the officers had breached police pursuit policy.
